Shane C. Drake

When Panic! At The Disco won MTV's highest award, the 2006 VMA for Video of the Year, director Shane C. Drake was recognized as the top director in his field. It had been a long time coming for Drake, one of the most prolific directors in the genre with over 50 credits to his name. This ascension wasn't so much as working with bigger and bigger bands, but being dedicated to a scene and doing the best he could with what he had. He created compelling videos to burgeoning bands such as Fall Out Boy, Hawthorne Heights, Deftones and Armor for Sleep and many other bands that grew with the new movement. His work with these bands documents the growth of not only his directing talent, but the scene itself and his body of work stands as a sort of documentary of this moment in time and the bands that made it all happen.

He has since broadened his lens, doing videos for Cheetah Girls, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Gym Class Heroes, Trick Daddy and Chamillionaire. Having scaled the heights of the music video world, Shane has now set his sights on film. The film he has chosen, The CoolKids, is one that returns him to those bands and the scene that gave him his start.
